Key ideas for both sides
White
- Continue with Bg2 and O-O; the g2 bishop guards the king and eyes d5 and b7.
- Answer ...c6 and ...d5 with Qb3, as both top engine lines show, hitting b7 and d5.
- If Black plays ...d5 at once, cxd5 and e4 gain a big center with tempo on the knight.
- Delay e4 until Nc3 is in, so the center pawns stand on solid support.
Black
- Castle short and choose a setup: ...d6 with ...Nbd7 and ...e5, or ...c6 and ...d5.
- Against Qb3, play ...Qb6 or ...a5, as the engine shows, to blunt the queen's attack on b7.
- A quick ...d5 invites cxd5 and e4; then ...Nb6 and ...O-O hit the center from the sides.
- The ...c5 setup is another option, aiming for Benoni play against a slower White plan.
Plans and pawn structure
Both kings stay very safe, so the game becomes positional. White's g2 bishop and c4 pawn press on d5 and the queenside, and Qb3 is a common way to target b7. Black can build the classical ...d6 and ...e5 center or play ...c6 and ...d5 for a Grünfeld-like structure. Pawn breaks like ...c6, ...d5 or e4 decide the play, and accurate move order matters more than attacking ideas.

How to play against it
As Black, castle and pick one setup instead of mixing them. If White aims Qb3 at b7, ...Qb6 or ...a5 are clean answers. As White, keep Bg2 and O-O first, then add Nc3 before pushing e4. Do not let Black win d4 with ...c5 while your king is still uncastled.
