Privacy policy

Chess Openings Lab needs no account and doesn't sell personal data. We measure how the site is used with Google Analytics, and your repertoire stays in your own browser.

What we collect

We use Google Analytics 4 to count page views and a few anonymous events. Google Analytics sets cookies and receives your IP address, which it truncates; we see only aggregated reports. In the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland, ad storage is off by default.

Stored on your device

The repertoire trainer saves your lines, review schedule and daily review count in your browser's local storage. It is never sent to us. Clearing your browser data deletes it; the trainer's backup button saves a copy as a file you control.

Links, embeds and hosting

Links to shops, books and courses take you to their sites, which have their own privacy policies. Video lessons, when shown, load from youtube-nocookie.com only after you press play. Fonts are served by Google Fonts, which sees your IP address when it sends them. The site is hosted by a website platform that keeps standard server logs (IP address, time, page) for security, and that platform loads Google reCAPTCHA, which sends Google information about your browser; Google's Privacy Policy and Terms apply.
